Windows and doors will not seal correctly if the weatherstripping is severely worn. For security and life safety, hardware components such as sash locks, operators, and patio door rollers must be functioning. If any of these components are no longer working, it is time to replace them.

Many hardware stores and/or home centers provide replacement weatherstripping and other hardware components. Many markets also have enterprises that specialize in window and door repair and replacement components.
